The all-new 16th generation Toyota Crown, known as the “Toyota Crown Crossover,” has been developed on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, with the GA-K sub-platform, the same one used in the production of the current Toyota Avalon and various other models like the Toyota Camry, Toyota RAV4, and several Lexus vehicles. The dimensions of this vehicle are as follows: a length of 4,930 mm, a width of 1,840 mm, and a height of 1,540 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The design seamlessly blends elements of a sedan with a crossover, featuring a style reminiscent of the Toyota bZ4X with a lowered and sloping rear, giving it a fastback look, while adding a touch of luxury.
The passenger cabin is neatly organized with a minimalist design. Key standard features include a 12.3-inch digital full-digital gauge cluster paired with a touchscreen display for the Toyota Multimedia System, which runs on the new All-New 12.3-inch operating system. It supports cloud-based navigation, over-the-air software updates (OTA), voice commands through the “Hey Toyota” wake word, smartphone connectivity via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, wireless smartphone charging, USB-Type A and Type C ports, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable seats with 8-way adjustments for both the driver and front passenger, a premium JBL audio system with 11 speakers, and a panoramic glass roof.
Each sub-model comes with a hybrid drive system, available in the XLE and Limited trims, utilizing the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) – 4th generation. It consists of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired with two electric motors and a newly developed nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) hybrid battery. Power is transmitted through an eCVT shift-by-wire gearbox, and drivers can choose from three driving modes: Eco, Normal, or Sport. While the maximum power output hasn’t been specified, these hybrid systems provide a balance of fuel efficiency and performance.
The top-tier Platinum grade model features the all-new hybrid system, officially known as HYBRID MAX. This hybrid setup includes a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, turbocharged, electric motors, and a nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) hybrid battery pack. The power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a wet multi-plate hydraulic clutch system. This new generation of Toyota vehicles comes equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system referred to as E-Four, which collaborates with a separate eAxle electric motor. It provides independent control of the front and rear wheels, delivering a combined system output of 345 horsepower (PS). Drivers can select from six driving modes, including Eco, Normal, Custom, Comfort, Sport, and Sport.
The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package includes the following features:
Automatic High Beams: Automatically adjusts the brightness of the high beams when oncoming vehicles are detected.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Automatically adjusts the speed to maintain a safe following distance by utilizing radar to detect the speed of the vehicle in front.
Road Sign Assist: Helps the driver observe and interpret road signs and warnings.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: Warns of potential front-end collisions and includes pedestrian detection.
